Practicing film photography

Lori and I were talking about photography class one day, and we got on the topic of film cameras. We were talking about how useful it is to start with a film camera because it forces you to think about and adjust the ISO, shutter speed, and aperture. She then offered to show me how to use a film camera and take time practicing with one. Over the next couple months I experienced shooting in a variety of lighting and practiced manually focusing the lens.

We plan to develop the film together soon.

Understanding how to use different art mediums, such as a camera, is critical. Knowing a variety of both 2D and 3D mediums allows me to offer students multiple ways to access art content.

Moving forward I will be making effort to learn by experiencing more 3D art forms such as jewelry making, found object mobiles, and ephemeral nature sculptures. I will also, keep going to workshops that are about teaching, as well as workshops about the process of making art.
